Ever thought about the fact that a true, genuine Christian is a rare find today?
Think about it for a moment. What kind of person truly loves and is devoted to
someone he has never seen? That same person speaks with someone he
cannot see. A true Christian is one who empties himself so that he can be
full. This person admits to being wrong in a world that tells him it is all right.
He or she is strongest when he is weakest. He is richest when he is
truly poor and happiest when things seem to be at their worst.
That same kind of person knows and understands fully the Scripture that teaches
us to "submit therefore to God and resist the devil". That's James 4:7. Also, we
read in Psalm 100:3, "Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us,
and not we ourselves..."
Romans 1:21 says, "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as
God, neither were they thankful: but became vain in their imaginations, and their
foolish heart was darkened." That verse uses the phrase "when they knew God".
That's scary to realize that many know OF God but don't truly KNOW God. To Know
Him is to find Him in His Word and then become that genuine Christian in following
His commands.
