Recently I carried my umbrella with me. The sky was dark with clouds so
I just knew it was going to rain. It didn't! It isn't going to rain just because I
carried my umbrella and by carrying my umbrella, I didn't prevent it from
raining. Believing in God is the same way. God is not controlled by what
I do. I am to be controlled by what He does and says.
II Peter 1:16 says, "For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we
made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were
eyewitnesses of His majesty."
These men, who were with Jesus spoke of what they saw and heard from
Him. He still speaks to us today from His Word. His Word is not filled with
little stories to keep us entertained, but with Words that will lead us as He
directs us to a home eternal. We can't make that way the way we want it
to be. He has already set that path, it is then up to us to follow it.
