Sometimes I think it would help if we each kept a camel in our backyards.
Why, you ask? Because some of us have to cross the deserts that crop up
in our lives. The automobile that we have is fine for everyday use, but a camel
will keep right on going when the times get rough and save itself and its rider.
In Mark 6:31 Jesus said, "Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and
rest a while: for there were many coming and going..." We do have a lot of
"coming and going" in life and we need something like the symbol of a camel,
ready at a moment's notice to jump on and get us through the dry spells.
Perhaps we just need to keep the idea of a camel within us to help us stay
committed in our marriages, faithful in God's Word, and loyal in our following
Him as He leads us through our deserts!
