I love those free samples you get at a grocery store. I am so ready to grab up
that cut-up strawberry or sample of cheese. The bad thing is that I don't need it,
what is worse is that they are probably filled with germs from other hands reaching
and sampling. I know that, but I do it anyway. Isn't life somewhat like that? I know
I shouldn't but I do it knowing that I shouldn't!
Notice what James says in James 4:17, "Therefore, to him who knows to do good
and does not do it, to him it is sin."
There is a big difference in that verse. To know to do what is right and not to do it
is different than to know to do wrong and still do it. God has told us to resist doing
what we know not to do and submit ourselves to Him for our strength.
Why contaminate myself with other people's faults? I should know who I am and
what I believe from God and stand firm on that! I will still grab that little sample of
free food, but I will think twice about it before I make a move toward committing
an offense to God.
