I have always been fascinated with the polygraph machine. They are usually
referred to as "lie-detecting devices". A technician hooks a person up to the
machine and through a series of questions, they can generally determine
whether or not that person is telling the truth. God already knows that!
I love the verse in Jeremiah 9:5, "Everyone will deceive his neighbor, And will
not speak the truth; They have taught their tongue to speak lies; They weary
themselves to commit iniquity.".
In the ninth of the Ten Commandments, God forbids the telling of lies. He wants
it to be natural for us to always tell the truth. The polygraph records what is an
unnatural response to questions when we lie. Inside our bodies, we are relaxed
in telling the truth and are going through a form of nervousness when we lie.
It would be easier for each of us to realize that we are hooked up all the time
to God's polygraph, wouldn't it?
