What would a football, baseball or soccer team be without a locker room?
When we watch a team come charging out of the clubhouse or locker room,
we know they are ready for battle with the other team. What goes on in that
locker room? That is where they get their game plans, their strategies. The
locker room is where they get their sense of direction on how they will plan
the game. At halftime, they get a boost, a little encouragement, a pep talk,
if you know what I mean. I compare that with what I find in Hebrews 10:24-25,
"And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some,
but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."
Can you imagine a coach allowing a player to skip the locker room or only come
whenever he felt like it? When we come to church services, we get the game plan
for life. At church we receive the encouragement and to have our spirits lifted,
especially when things seem to be going wrong. The Church is not just a place
for all the winners, but a place where those who feel like losers can come to find
new hope and a greater faith in God. See you at Church this Sunday?
